 | | Of course most volksfests offer a large variety of high-tech, fast, thrilling rides and attractions. While the Michaelis-Kirchweih is low key, it celebrates tradition within its historical city. Every year good spirits flow through the streets of the "Kleeblattstadt" - the "three leaf clover city" - replacing the everyday work traffic. |

 | | The St. Michael’s Festival , unlike most church festivals which were appointed as official festival sites from the city authorities, has earned it’s reputation and popularity through the years. As the second oldest but yet mother of the Kirchweih-Church Festivals it was named after the valiant archangel. It is estimated that this simple, rather modest church reflecting the image of "The old Temple on the Hill" was founded in the year 1100. |

 | | The history of this parade dates back to the years 1815-1817. Many areas of mittelfranken were famine stricken due to persistent crop failure, natural disasters, and the Napoleonic War. The frost period brought also heavy storms in 1815, ruining the potential harvest from the fruit fields. The farmer’s efforts were futile. |
